Course Overview: Teaching TAGAKI Advanced with Plan–Teach–Assess
This 9-session course is designed to help teachers get the most out of the TAGAKI Advanced
series and boost classroom impact. Across three levels from CEFR A2–B2, the books guide
learners from giving reasons to writing expository texts and finally producing hybrid, academic-
style writing on the SDGs.
The course is structured around a simple Plan–Teach–Assess cycle that highlights what matters
most at each stage of writing development: understanding text structures, teaching approaches
that build skills progressively, and meaningful assessment that promotes learner growth.
Participants will see how pedagogy shifts as learners move from BICS to CALP, from speaking-
supported writing to reading-supported writing, and from model-based to process-based
approaches. At each stage, we will also explore how AI can support teachers with brainstorming,
communication practice, resource creation, and assessment, giving practical tools that save time
and enrich learning.
コース概要：計画・指導・評価によるTAGAKI Advancedの指導
この9回コースは、教師がTAGAKI Advancedシリーズを最大限に活用し、授業での効果を高めることを目的としています。CEFR A2からB2までの3つのレベルを網羅し、学習者は理由の提示から説明文の作成、そして最終的にはSDGsに関するハイブリッドなアカデミックスタイルのライティングの作成へと導かれます。
このコースは、シンプルな「計画（Plan）- 指導（Teach）- 評価（Assess）」サイクルに基づいて構成されており、ライティング能力開発の各段階で最も重要な要素、すなわちテキスト構造の理解、スキルを段階的に構築する指導方法、そして学習者の成長を促す有意義な評価に焦点を当てています。
参加者は、学習者がBICSからCALPへ、スピーキング支援型ライティングからリーディング支援型ライティングへ、そしてモデルベースのアプローチからプロセスベースのアプローチへと移行するにつれて、教育法がどのように変化するかを理解します。また、各段階で、AIがブレインストーミング、コミュニケーション練習、リソース作成、評価において教師をどのように支援できるかについても探求し、時間を節約し学習を豊かにする実用的なツールを提供します。

Session A1.1 (Advanced 1 – Three Reasons) Plan
This session introduces TAGAKI Advanced 1: Three Reasons (CEFR A2), where students
practise giving three clear reasons to support their opinions. We will explore the structure and
goals of the book, what to prioritise when teaching opinion writing at the A2 level, and how
speaking supports writing at this stage. Teachers will gain insights into planning lessons that help
learners move from spoken reasoning into written reasoning, while keeping writing goals simple
and achievable. We will also look at how AI can support brainstorming, helping teachers and
learners generate a wide range of possible reasons and ideas before drafting.

このセッションでは、TAGAKI上級1：3つの理由（CEFR A2レベル）を紹介します。生徒は、自分の意見を裏付ける3つの明確な理由を挙げる練習をします。本書の構成と目標、A2レベルで意見ライティングを指導する際に優先すべき点、そしてこの段階でスピーキングがライティングをどのようにサポートするかについて考察します。教師は、ライティングの目標をシンプルかつ達成可能なものにしつつ、学習者がスピーキングによる推論からライティングによる推論へと移行できるよう、授業計画の立案に関する洞察を得ることができます。また、AIがブレインストーミングをどのように支援し、教師と学習者が下書き作成前に幅広い理由やアイデアを生み出すのを支援するかについても考察します。
Session A1.2 (Advanced 1 – Three Reasons) Teach
In this session, we focus on teaching strategies for TAGAKI Advanced 1. We will examine the
step-by-step approach outlined in the book and model how to guide students from spoken opinion
to written expression. Practical classroom activities will be shared, showing how to engage
students in speaking tasks that naturally lead into writing tasks. The emphasis will be on building
fluency and confidence, using clear models to scaffold learning. We will also demonstrate how AI
can act as a supportive communication partner, giving learners extra opportunities to rehearse
their opinions orally and in writing outside of class.

このセッションでは、TAGAKI上級1の指導戦略に焦点を当てます。本書で概説されている段階的なアプローチを検証し、生徒がスピーキングによる意見からライティングによる表現へと導く方法をモデルとして示します。実践的な教室活動を共有し、生徒がスピーキング課題から自然とライティング課題へと繋がる方法を紹介します。流暢さと自信を育み、明確なモデルを用いて学習を段階的に進めることに重点を置きます。また、AIがコミュニケーション支援パートナーとしてどのように機能し、学習者が授業外で口頭および文章で意見を練習する機会をさらに増やすことができるかを示します。
Session A1.3 (Advanced 1 – Three Reasons) Assess
This session explores formative and summative assessment for TAGAKI Advanced 1. We will
discuss how to create simple, clear rubrics that capture the essentials of opinion writing at CEFR
A2. Teachers will learn how to train students to assess writing themselves fostering reflection and
ownership of learning. We will also explore how AI can generate sample student answers and
rubrics, enabling learners to practise assessing anonymous work before turning to peer feedback
with classmates, making assessment a learning activity in itself.
Session A1.3 (Advanced 1 – Three Reasons)評価
このセッションでは、TAGAKI上級レベル1の形成的評価と総括的評価について考察します。CEFR A2における意見ライティングの要点を捉えた、シンプルで明確なルーブリックの作成方法について議論します。教師は、生徒が自らライティングを評価できるように訓練することで、振り返りと学習への主体性を育む方法を学びます。また、AIが生徒のサンプル回答とルーブリックを生成する方法についても考察します。これにより、学習者はクラスメートとのピアフィードバックを受ける前に、匿名の課題を評価する練習をすることができ、評価自体が学習活動となります。

Damien Pratt氏
講師プロフィール：
I first came to Japan in 1992 on the JET programme anticipating staying for three years. Fourteen years, a wife and two children later, I returned to the UK, where I got qualified as a primary teacher and we added another child to the family.
In 2017, after 10 years of working in a very large primary school in London, we returned to Japan. Since then, I’ve been working in Tokyo as the coordinator for Tamagawa Academy’s bilingual elementary school programme.
I have worked with or for MPI since 1997 and have been involved in the creation of Dansinglish, Globe Walker and TAGAKI Advanced 3 about the SDGs.
In the 30+ years I’ve been involved in education, I’ve been a teacher, teacher trainer, deputy head, curriculum designer, editor, writer and performer.
My professional interests include communicative language teaching, the teaching of reading and writing, Content and Language Integrated Learning and teacher professional development.
